Porter Named Heart of America SID of the Year

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – The Heart of America has announced that Mount Mercy's Sports Information Director Noah Porter has been named the 2025-26 Dave Fillmore Heart SID of the Year.

Porter wrapped up his second full season with the Mustangs this past spring. He assisted media relations for the Heart of America Cross Country, Softball, and Outdoor Track and Field Championships in the 2025-26 school year, and assisted in media coverage for the NAIA Men's Volleyball National Championships in Cedar Rapids.

"I am extremely honored to be named the Heart SID of the Year," Porter said. "This group of SID's in the conference are some of the best in the country and this is a testament to the work that we all do for our departments throughout the year."

Porter also has helped increase the social media presence on the social media accounts for Mustang athletics, leading to growth in engagements and outreach. A highlight for Porter this past season included covering the school's first team national championship in men's bowling, while also covering several conference championship teams.

"I get the honor of working with a great group of coaches and staff on a daily basis that makes coming to work so enjoyable. This honor is not just an individual award, as I couldn't have done what I did without my graduate assistant Sarah Gaul for the past two years. Together we were able to highlight all of the successes both on and off the playing surface."

The award is voted on by the sports information directors in the conference and honors a staff who demonstrates excellence in all aspects of athletics communications. These include, but are not limited to, social media, press releases, photography, statistical compilation, website creation, media relations, game day operations, graphic design, and more.
