Two Home Run Day by Figueroa Leads Mustangs to Doubleheader Sweep
CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - Dominant pitching in the first game, followed by a two home run day by Jeremy Figueroa propelled the Mustangs to a doubleheader sweep over William Penn, winning by scores of 4-3 and 3-1, as the winning streak reached seven.
Game One
Ashton Schwab was on another level in game one, pitching a complete game while fanning 11 Statesmen batters in the win. Schwab was dominant early on, pitching four innings of no-hit baseball until William Penn finally recorded a base hit.
Kyle Moeder got the scoring started in the fourth, singling to right field as Brandon Bickford came across to score. Blair Speas singled and advanced to second on an error which drove in three runs as the Statesmen jumped out to a 3-1 lead on their only scoring play of the game. Jeremy Figueroa blasted a ball over the left field fence as the Mustangs got to within one after five innings of play.
Jaden Hackbarth doubled to right center in the sixth as Moeder came across the plate to tie the game up, later scoring on a wild pitch to give the Mustangs the decisive run to seal the game one win.

Following a leadoff walk from Jaden Hackbarth and Drake Frazier reaching on an error by the Statesmen pitcher, Jeremy Figueroa stepped up with nobody out in the bottom of the seventh. Figueroa belted a ball high and deep to left field, getting over the fence to walk it off and send the Mustangs home with two more wins.
