Mustang cheer and dance host Mustang Classic

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa -- The Mount Mercy cheer and dance squads hosted Grand View and Viterbo for the 2022 Mustang Classic on Friday night at Hennessey Recreation Center.

A cheer dual with Grand View opened the event as the Vikings defeated the Mustangs, 53.25-31.37. The same two teams opened the dance competiton, with Grand View again topping Mount Mercy, 83-85-58.60.

In the Mustangs' final appearance, they improved their score from the Grand View dual, posting a 62.65 against Viterbo. The V-Hawks won the dual, however, with a score of 78.85. Grand View took its matchup with Viterbo, 87.50-76.40, to close the night.

Mount Mercy's next appearance will be at William Penn on Saturday, Feb. 5, in Oskaloosa.
