Mustangs close season at Heart Championships

MARSHALL, Mo. - This past Saturday, the Mount Mercy cheerleading squad's season came to an end as they participated in the Heart of America Athletic Conference Championships hosted by Missouri Valley at the Burns Athletic Center. The Mustangs placed eighth in the competition. 

In the preliminary round, Mount Mercy posted a 46.65, but had the second biggest jump of the day for their final round score. The Mustangs improved by nearly four full points for a final round score of 50.43. Only Missouri Valley, improved by more from round one to round two, as they scored six points better. Mount Mercy finished with an overall score of 49.49.

Missouri Valley's six point jump, gave them first place at 90.59. MidAmerica Nazarene (Kan.) was second (90.04), Grand View was third (87.25), Benedictine (Kan.) was fourth (75.63), and Peru State (Neb.) was fifth (71.80). 

Head Coach Michaela Davis stated, "I am extremely proud of the cheer team ending their competitive season with an average of 54.45 points; showing huge improvement compared to last year's average of 45.67!".
