Mustangs have strong performances ahead of Heart Championships
BALDWIN CITY, Kan. / ATCHISON, Kan. - The Mount Mercy dance team came away with two top-three finishes during their road trip to Kansas this past weekend. The Mustangs were runner-up at the Baker Classic on Saturday and finished third at the Benedictine Challenge on Sunday.
In a seven team battle, Mount Mercy received their highest score of the year with an 86.07, just edging out Oklahoma City (85.90 points) for second place. Host school, Baker, took the title with 89.83 points. Missouri Valley was fourth (72.07 points), and Graceland rounded out the top five (68.03 points).
The Mustangs followed-up their stellar performance on Saturday with a 80.8 on Sunday, putting them in third.
Mount Mercy is 17th in the nation and looks to build on that when they travel to Marshall, Mo. for the Heart of America Athletic Conference Championships hosted by Missouri Valley on Saturday, Feb. 18. The doors open at 10:00 am at the Burns Athletic Center. Mount Mercy takes the floor at 10:50 am, prelims are at 12:35 pm and finals at 2:10 pm.
