Walsh Claims National Title at USBC ISC Finals; Team Falls in Quarterfinals of ITC Finals
LAS VEGAS, Nev. - Mustang freshman bowler Blake Walsh won the program's first individual national title at the USBC ISC Finals, as the team would end their season in the semifinals of the ITC Finals.
Walsh would end qualifying as the 13th seed with 1257 pins over five games bowled. In bracket play, Walsh took down 20th-seed Edgar Burgos, winning the opening round matchup by a 679-557 pinfall count. He would then advance to face off against fourth-seed Tyler Meade, besting him by 101 pins, earning a 756-655 win. In a matchup between the 13 and 12 seeds, Walsh took down Matthew Mesecher by 47 pins, earning a 658-611 win, to advance to the national semifinals and an appearance on television.
In the Saturday semis, Walsh defeated Conner Lackey by 57 pins, earning a 237-180 win, advancing to the national title match. There, it was a matchup with third seed Nicholas Blagojevich, where Walsh would come up with a 235-190 win, earning the bowling program's first individual national title.
On the team side, the men would defeat Newman in the opening round by a score of 4-2. In the second round, Marian would get the better of the Mustangs, falling by a score of 4-2, dropping them into the elimination bracket. With the season on the line, the Mustangs took down Lawrence Tech in the decisive game seven, before taking down Pikeville in seven games. With a spot in the semifinals on the line, Marian would get the better of the Mustangs once again, ending the Mustangs season.
With another successful season in the books, the Mustangs will look to perform well once again in the 2025-26 campaign.
