Mustangs Place Second in Qualifying; Win Warhawk Open in Bracket Play
ADDISON, Ill. - The Mustang men's bowling team placed second in qualifying at the Warhawk Open, coming out on top in bracket play to secure the win over the weekend.
Host school Wisconsin-Whitewater would finish first in qualifying, ending with a total of 8802 pins. The Mustangs came in second, ending with 8584. Calumet and St. Ambrose would finish in third and fourth, with 8473 and 8423 respectively.
In bracket play, the Mustangs would take down Davenport University in the opening round in the best of three, before taking down Calumet in the semifinals, setting up a match with host UW-Whitewater in the finals. After falling in game one, the Mustangs would storm back and take the final two to take the tournament title.
On the individual side, Zach Andresen landed on the all-tournament team, ending in fourth place with a total pin count of 1133, good for an average of 226.6 pins per game. Andresen would bowl three games over 200, highlighted by a 256 in his first game bowled. Keegan Alexander would land inside the top-10, ending in seventh place with a total pinfall of 1110. Alexander recorded all five games above 200, bowling a high of 237 in game four.
The Mustangs will next hit the lanes at the Glenn Carlson Invitational, taking place in Las Vegas starting on December 18.
