Mustangs compete at Park Spring Classic

PARKVILLE, Mo. - For the second straight week, the Mount Mercy men's golf team participated in a big tournament, the Park University Spring Classic, with 15 teams and 85 players. The Mustangs placed 10th in the event played at The Deuce at the National Golf Club of Kansas City on Monday and Tuesday. 

In a unique, 70-par course, Mount Mercy was ninth after 18 holes with a 307 team score. Grand View and the Mustangs flipped spots on the final day as the Vikings shot 305 compared to Mount Mercy's 311. Kirkwood Community College won the team title with a score of 573 (283-290). Central Methodist (Mo.) was second (293-292=585), Missouri Valley was third (285-303=588), host Park (Mo.) was fourth (285-312=597), and Iowa Central Community College founded out the top five (303-296=599). 

Grant Case shot Mount Mercy's low on Monday, with a 75 (+5), thanks to four birdies. On Tuesday, it was Junn Yong with the low of 74 (+4) after a five birdie performance. Both Case (75-76=151) and Yong (77-74=151) tied for 20th. Corbin Borelli tied for 57th (78-82=160), Kaleb Hagge tied for 61st (82-79=161), and Miguel Crespin was 65th (77-85=162). Individual, Dylan Tan, finished in the top half of the field with a total of 154 (77-77), tied for 34th. Sean Hinerichsen also competed as an individual for Mount Mercy. He tied for 53rd after rounds of 78 and 80 for a total of 158. Kirkwood's Grant Greazel was in the champion at 136 (67-69). 

Mount Mercy's next meet is on Friday and Saturday, April 14-15 at the Tatanka Spring Invite hosted by Jamestown (N.D.) at the Tatanka Golf Course in Niobara, Neb. Tee times have not yet been announced.
