Mustangs end fall season with sixth place finish
CAMDENTON, Mo. - With the final day of the Old Kinderhook's Battle in the Ozarks being canceled due to cold weather, the Mount Mercy men's golf team ended their fall season with a sixth place finish on Monday at Old Kinderhook Resort & Golf Course.
Thirteen strokes separated the top five teams. Williams Baptist (Ark.) (302) edged out Kirkwood Community College (303) and 18th-ranked Texas Wesleyan (304) for first place. Culver-Stockton (Mo.) (311) was fourth and Kansas City Kansas Community College (315) was fifth. Baker (Kan.) and Mount Mercy tied for sixth with a team score of 316.
Junn Yong continued his dominance, firing a one-over-par 72 in the only round. He tallied two birdies on the front nine coupled with 13 pars to tie for second place with a 72. Dominic McCain tied for 25th (79), Lincoln Beckett tied for 33rd (80), Ziwen Zhong tied for 52nd (85), and Theo Baker was 65th (89) while battling the windy and cold conditions. The Mustangs individuals stepped up and produced some good scores as well. Miguel Crespin finished tied for 22nd with a 78, while Dylan Tan tied for 25th, carding a 79. Cole Eberly tied for 41st (82) and Carter Vander Zee and Juan de Olazabal Fernandez both tied for 56th with 86s.
Mount Mercy will be back on the links this Spring for the championship season.
