Men's golf opens spring season in Texas
SAN ANTONIO, Texas -- The Mount Mercy men's golf team got its spring season underway this week, competing in the TPC San Antonio Shootout at the TPC San Antonio Oaks and Canyons courses.
The Mustangs finished seventh out of eight NAIA teams at the event with a 45-hole total of 807. Wayland Baptist was a seven-stroke winner over Benedictine-Mesa, 753-760. Oklahoma City was third (768), followed by Bellevue (776), Our Lady of the Lake (792), Grand View (803), Mount Mercy (807), and SCAD- Atlanta (811).
Junn Yong finished eighth for the Mustangs after shooting 190 (73-38-79). Theo Baker tied for 16th (79-40-78=197), Dominic McCain tied for 34th (89-37-86=212), Lincoln Beckett was 37th (81-45-87=213), and Ziwen Zhong placed 38th (87-46-84=217).
Mount Mercy will be back in action in late March, competing at the Osage National Spring Invitational on Monday and Tuesday, March 25-26, at Osage National Golf Course in Ozark, Mo.
