Mustangs Win Second Straight Tournament at NAIA National Preview
SILVIS, Ill. - The Mount Mercy men's golf team came out victorious once again in 2024, winning the NAIA National Preview at TPC Deere Run, hosted by St. Ambrose.
Theo Baker won his second consecutive individual tournament, taking home the top spot by five shots over his nearest competitor. Following a one-under round, Baker went off on Tuesday by firing a final round five-under. Baker would not have a single bogey in his round, and would card five birdies to go along with 13 pars.
Gannon Hall was the next Mustang in, finishing in a T-13 spot at six-over. Hall carded a birdie on each side of the course, shooting a final round score of five-over 76. Not far behind him was a pair of Mustangs in Junn Yong and Ziwen Zhong, each at seven over in a tie for 21st. Yong carded a birdie on his first hole, while Zhong had a pair of birdies, one on each side. Frederick Walker was the final Mustang in at 16-over, as his score did not count towards the team score.
The Mustangs have now won their second consecutive team tournament, as they also took home the top prize at the Mustang Fall Championship that was held at Hunters Ridge earlier in September.
