Jacobs Named Next Men's Golf Head Coach

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – The Mount Mercy athletics department has announced the newest addition to the athletics staff, as Charley Jacobs takes the helm of the Mustang men's golf program.

Jacobs joins the Mustangs after serving as the golf graduate assistant at fellow Heart school William Penn. With the statesmen, she assisted the head coach in conducting practices, drills, and team strategy sessions. She also organized and maintained team equipment.

Prior to her days at William Penn, Jacobs was an NCAA DI athlete at both Iowa State and University of Louisiana-Monroe. While golfing in college, Jacobs was named to a pair of academic All-Big 12 teams while concluding her sophomore season with a scoring average of 75.4. With ULM, she tallied a top-10 finish while carding her best first round score of 65, and best second round score of 69, both at the Ladies Heroes Intercollegiate.

"We are excited that Charley will join us as the men's golf head coach, sharing her wealth of experience from her playing days in Division I and her coaching experience in the NAIA," added associate athletic director Molly Altorfer. "Charley is a fierce competitor and knows what it takes to win at the highest levels of elite golf, a mindset she will impart to our 2025 national championship qualifying team and our future Mustang student-athletes."

"I am incredibly honored to step into the role of head men's golf coach at Mount Mercy," added Jacobs. "This program has a strong tradition of success, and I am excited to build on that foundation while developing student-athletes both on and off the course. I look forward to leading with passion, purpose, and a commitment to excellence."
