Mustangs Jump Two Spots to Claim Second at Mustang Fall Championship
MARION, Iowa — Mount Mercy placed second at its own Mustang Fall Classic this week, finishing with a team score of 584 at Hunters Ridge Golf Course. The Mustangs trailed only Kirkwood Community College, which claimed the team title at 578. Park (Mo.) finished third at 590, while Kirkwood's B team rounded out the top four with 592.
The Mustangs were led by Ziwen Zhong, who tied for second overall, shooting a final round score of five-under, ending the tournament at even par, as Zhong would card a bogey free round. Freddie Walker and Lincoln Beckett rounded out the top-10, ending at two-over and four-over respectively. Frank Haege finished in a tie for 15th, shooting a seven-over, while Cole Eberly finished outside of the scoring numbers, carding an eight-over par.
Mount Mercy also fielded two additional teams. The B team placed fifth at 619, led by consistent play across the lineup. The C team finished seventh with 654.
The Mustangs next tournament takes place in Kansas, taking on the Mid-South Classic, starting on Monday in Newton.
