Mustangs Sit Ninth After 36 Holes at Mid-South Invitational
NEWTON, Kan. - The Mustangs ended day one of the Mid-South Invite in ninth place overall, shooting a 601 through the first 36 holes of play.
MidAmerica Nazarene (-7), Friends (-2), Nebraska Wesleyan (E), and Bellevue (+4) pace the top four, with the Pioneers of MidAmerica Nazarene carding a tournament best -11 as a team in the second round.
For the Mustangs, Frederick Walker ended first on the team and in a tie for 34th overall, shooting a five over par day. He would be fairly consistent through 36 holes, as his scores only differed by one shot. Not far behind him was Wil Sigwarth at six over par. Sigwarth would improve his score over the second round by four shots, shooting a one over par on the second set of 18 holes.
Ziwen Zhong fired off a seven over par day, ending in a tie for 45th. His second round score would see a three shot improvement from his first 18 holes. Rounding out the countable scores was Frank Haege, ending in a tie for 49th at eight over par. Haege fired off a two over par score in round two, seeing a four shot improvement from round one.
The Mustangs will end the Mid-South Invite on Wednesday at Sand Creek Station in Newton.
