Mustangs edge Wildcats, end three-game skid
CANTON, Mo. -- The Mount Mercy men's soccer team snapped a three-match losing streak on Tuesday night, defeating Culver-Stockton, 1-0, in a Heart of America Athletic Conference road game at Poulton Stadium.
The Mustangs (4-4-0, 1-2-0 Heart) have struggled offensively in conference play, but only needed a Yu Sasaki goal in the 58th minute to get the job done against the Wildcats (2-5-0, 0-3-0 Heart). Sasaki has scored in all but two games so far this season and leads the team with 10 goals. Hayate Iino picked up the assist. Joao Pedro Oliveira stopped all four shots he faced from Culver-Stockton.
Mount Mercy hosts MidAmerica Nazarene (6-2-0, 3-0-0 Heart) on Homecoming this Saturday at 3:30 pm at Hadzic Field in Cedar Rapids.
