Mustangs get road shutout at Evangel

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- The Mount Mercy men's soccer team ended a three-game losing streak on Saturday, shutting out Evangel, 4-0, in a Heart of America Athletic Conference match.

The Mustangs (7-8-0, 4-6-0 Heart) had gone three games without a goal, but scored twice in each half against the Valor (0-14-0, 0-10-0 Heart). Jose Leite (21') and Yu Sasaki (32') found the back of the net in the opening 45 minutes, then Jordan Webb (55') and Oguzhan Bozkan (68') scored goals after intermission.

Mount Mercy wraps up the regular season this week, hosting Graceland (8-6-2, 4-6-1 Heart) on Senior Night on Wednesday at 7:30 pm at Hadzic Field in Cedar Rapids, then traveling to Atchison, Kan., to take on Benedictine (6-8-1, 3-6-1 Heart) on Saturday at 7:30 pm.
