Sasaki, Dancer, Matsushita land all-conference awards
CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa -- Mount Mercy's Yu Sasaki, Jonah Dancer, and Yuhei Matsushita earned Heart of America Athletic Conference postseason awards by a vote of league coaches.
Sasaki, a junior forward, was a first-team all-conference selection. He led the Mustangs and was second in the Heart with 16 goals to go along with two assists. Dancer, a junior defender, and Matsushita, a junior midfielder, were second-team all-conference. Dancer tallied six goals and six assists while Matsushita notched one goal for the Mustangs.
Central Methodist, the regular season conference champion, and Missouri Valley, the league's runner-up, swept the major awards. Alessandro Salvadego of Central Methodist was the Heart Player of the Year, Offensive Player of the Year, and the Newcomer of the Year. The Eagles' Marcos German was the Defensive Player of the Year, Gyorgy Kamaras of Missouri Valley was Freshman of the Year, and Alex Nichols of Central Methodist was named Coach of the Year.
