CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa -- The Mount Mercy men's soccer team remains unbeaten through its first three matches this fall after a pair of second-half goals provided a 2-1, come-from-behind victory over Roosevelt in a non-conference contest on Saturday at Hadzic Field.
The Lakers (1-2-1) only had one shot on goal and it found the back of the net in the 32nd minute to give them a 1-0 lead at intermission. A strong second half by the Mustangs (2-0-1) proved to be the difference again. Ivano Carrieri (62') and Antonio Cuellar (64') each notched their second goals of the season just minutes apart to give Mount Mercy a lead they wouldn't relinquish.
The Mustangs finish up their non-conference schedule this week on the road with a Sept. 6 match at St. Ambrose at 7:00 pm in Davenport and then a trip to Fayette to face Upper Iowa on Sept. 10 at 1:00 pm.
