CANTON, Mo. -- A second-half barrage by the Mount Mercy men's soccer team opened up a tight Heart of America Athletic Conference match Wednesday night at Poulton Stadium as the Mustangs cruised to a 5-0 victory, their third in a row on the road.
Mount Mercy (6-1-3, 3-1-1 Heart) hasn't lost away from home this season, with the only blemish being a 1-1 tie at Upper Iowa a month ago. Since then, the Mustangs have defeated Grand View, Park, and Culver-Stockton on the road by a combined score of 10-1. With Wednesday's loss, the Wildcats dropped to 2-5-4 overall and 0-5-0 in conference play.
Matteo Anzallo scored twice for the Mustangs (18' 87') while Boris Dimitrov (54'), Robin Sarret (68'), and Ilija Kosoric (78') added the other three goals. Antonio Cuellar, Ensar Fejzic, Keita Karasawa, and Angelo Ciaccia recorded assists. Reigning Heart of America Defensive Player of the Week Alejandro Cuende had one save while tallying his second-straight clean sheet.
Mount Mercy hosts Graceland (3-7-1, 1-4-0 Heart) on Saturday at 3:30 pm at Hadzic Field in Cedar Rapids.
