CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa -- Mount Mercy capitalized on a Graceland miscue late and grabbed a 2-1, hard-fought victory over the Yellowjackets in Saturday's Heart of America Athletic Conference men's soccer match at Hadzic Field.
Keita Karasawa finished off a great setup by Ilija Kosoric in the box to put the Mustangs in front in the 32nd minute. After Tyler Dailey leveled the match three minutes into the second half, the game was scoreless for the next 25 minutes.
That changed in the 73rd minute when Yellowjacket goalkeeper Miguel Roces misplayed a ball in front of their goal and Robin Sarret put his fourth goal of the season in the back of the net for the game-winner.
Mount Mercy out-shot Graceland, 13-9, overall and had six on-frame compared to four by the Yellowjackets. Alejandro Cuende picked up another win by stopping three shots. The Mustang goalkeeper has only surrendered one goal in the his last three matches.
The Mustangs (7-1-3, 4-1-1 Heart) face a stiff test this week, traveling to Drost Field in Oskaloosa to take on 14th-ranked William Penn (8-1-4, 3-0-3 Heart) at 7:30 pm.
