Mustangs Dominate Coe at Hadzic Field

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - The Mount Mercy men's soccer team was utterly dominant once again, taking down cross-town rival Coe College on Wednesday night, taking down the Kohawks 9-0.

The match saw the Mustangs score four goals within the first 22 minutes of the contest. Andre Mendes got the scoring started off an assist from Taichi Inoue, netting his first goal of the season just seven and a half minutes in. Two minutes later, Ilija Kosoric scored his second of the season as Tobias Noach was able to find him for the goal. Keita Karasawa followed that up off a feed from Ensar Fejzic as the Mustangs made it 3-0 after 13 minutes of play. Inoue followed with a goal of his own off an assist from Chafik Elidrissi, as the first half would eventually end with MMU up 4-0.

In the second half, Karasawa netted his second of the contest in the 60th minute. In the 80th minute, reigning Heart of America Player of the Week Antonio Cuellar scored his fourth goal in two games, this time coming off a feed from Matteo Anzallo. Not even a minute later, Pablo Ortega Herreros scored his first goal of the contest, and followed that up with a second goal five minutes later. In the 84th minute, Chris Difficile added his name to the score sheet, scoring his first of the year off a pass from Leonardo Franco.

Five different Mustangs recorded multiple points in the contest, led by Karasawa and Ortega Herreros, each with four points on two goals. The defense made it another light day for the Mustang keepers, combining for a second consecutive clean sheet.

The Mustangs will next be on the road, taking on Judson next Wednesday at 5 p.m.
