Mustangs Fall to 11th-Ranked Missouri Valley in the Conference Opener

MARSHALL, Mo. - Two early goals from Missouri Valley paced the 11th-ranked Vikings offense in taking down Mount Mercy in the conference opener, winning the contest by a score of 3-2.

The Vikings got off to a red-hot start, scoring twice in the first five and a half minutes. Sam Green led the Viking offense, scoring both goals in the early minutes. Green would also tally an assist in the 61st minute, as he would end his day with five points (two goals and one assist).

For the Mustangs, Pablo Lopez took a pass from Chafik Elidrissi in the 45th minute just before halftime to cut into the Viking lead. Following a second half Missouri Valley goal, Danilo Obradovic took a pass from Chris Difficile to round out the scoring, as the Mustangs would fall by just one goal.

The Mustangs will return to the pitch on Wednesday to begin two straight home games, taking on Grand View with kickoff slated for 7:30.
