Mustangs Earn Second-Straight Win in Late Season Playoff Push

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - The Mustang men's soccer program earned their second consecutive Heart conference victory with a hard fought 2-1 victory over Park on a day when the team recognized their senior class.

The Pirates got the scoring started in the first 20 minutes of the game, as Francesco Esteban scored to make it 1-0 Pirates. In the 36th minute, Ilija Kosoric delivered the ball into the box while Chris Difficile delivered a highlight reel goal, striking the ball of a scissor kick to put it past the Pirate keeper to square the game at one, as the game would head into the half tied.

It wouldn't remain tied for long in the second half, as just four minutes in, Pablo Ortega took a feed from Kosoric and delivered a strike from the outside of the box to make it 2-1, which would hold on to be the final.

Despite the loss on the scoresheet, Pirate keeper Felipe Ramos recorded six saves to limit the damage from the Mustangs, while his counterpart in Alejandro Cuende recorded two saves in the win.

The Mustangs will return back to Hadzic Field on Wednesday, taking on Culver-Stockton in the final match of the regular season.
