CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - A three-goal day from Pablo Lopez was more than enough for the Mustangs to secure their spot in the Heart of America Championships as the team took down Culver-Stockton 4-0 on Thursday.
Lopez got thie scoring started in the 19th minute off a pass from Chafik Elidrissi, who would end the day with three assists. Lopez would then add another in the 36th minute to stretch the Mustang lead to two, which would be the score heading into the half.
Just six minutes into the second half, Ilija Kosoric took a feed from Elidrissi and put it past the Wildcat keeper. Lopez would then tack on his third of the match just nine minutes later, ending the scoring. The Mustangs would hold a 15-3 edge in shots, while the CSC keeper recorded six saves in the match. The Mustangs would also have the 7-2 edge in corner kicks, with all seven coming in the first half.
The win was enough to propel the Mustangs into the Heart of America tournament, as the seeding will be determined following the final day of regular season play on Saturday.
