PARKVILLE, Mo. — Mount Mercy fell 5–2 to Park University on Saturday, concluding its season with a road loss marked by defensive pressure and limited conversion in the final third.
The Mustangs (7-7-4, 4-6-3 Heart) matched the Pirates early when Tomas Parra Reyna equalized in the 21st minute off an assist from Pedro Binnios. Park responded with a late first-half strike from Jacksyn McIntyre and carried that momentum through the second period, scoring three times within 25 minutes after halftime.
Pablo Ortega Herreros added his 14th goal of the season in the 82nd minute, finishing from a Guilherme Venancio cross to narrow the deficit. Despite creating 13 shots — eight on frame — Mount Mercy struggled to break through against Park goalkeeper Felipe Ramos, who tallied six saves.
The Mustangs will look to rebuild and focus on offseason training while preparing for next year.
