Three hit qualifying marks, Mustangs count six event winners at Wartburg

WAVERLY, Iowa -- Ceondae Adams joined Mount Mercy's list of indoor national qualifiers while teammates Keegan Thompson and Mitch Miller also hit qualifying marks at the Chelsey Henkenius Open. In all, the Mustangs counted six event winners on Saturday at Hoover Fieldhouse.

Adams finished third and hit the NAIA's automatic qualifying mark in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of :08.22, which also sits as the second-fastest time in the Heart of America Athletic Conference this season. Adams also won the 200-meter dash while setting a school record in :21.97.

Thompson, who qualified for nationals at the Finals Week Invitational in December, matched his school-record time in the 60-meter dash at Wartburg (:06.87) while winning the event. He was also runner-up to Adams in the 200 meters.

Miller also became a national qualifier last month, but improved upon his distance in the weight throw at Wartburg. His toss of 16.58 meters gave him a new qualifying mark and the event crown.

Luke Nickelson had an outstanding meet as well, winning the high jump (2.00m) and triple jump (13.99m). Brooklyn Johnson grabbed an event title for the Mount Mercy women, crossing the finish line in :27.22 for the victory in the 200 meters.
