Mustangs compete at Iowa, UNI, and Cornell
CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa -- It was a busy weekend for the Mount Mercy track & field teams, who competed in events at the University of Iowa, the University of Northern Iowa, and Cornell College on Friday and Saturday.
Ceondae Adams, Keegan Thompson, and Luke Nickelson were at the Larry Wieczorek Invitational in Iowa City. Adams placed 11th in the 200-meter dash with a school-record time of :22.35. Thompson was 16th and hit a personal record :22.42 in the event. Nickelson placed fifth in the high jump (1.95m) and triple jump (13.57m).
At the Jack Jennett Invitational in Cedar Falls, Mount Mercy counted six event winners or runners-up, headlined by Jordan Schroeder's victory in the 400-meter dash (:51.78). Second-place finishers included Brady Cortez in the 600 meters (1:27.33), Ryan Clancy in the 3,000 meters (8:56.37), Caleb Rutherford in the shot put (15.30m), Mitch Miller in the weight throw (16.68m), and Bre Nail in the women's shot put (12.42m).
The Mustangs also had several event winners at Saturday's Cornell Invitational. Those were Nate Keiper (200m/:23.13), Ryan Clancy (800m/2:03.42), Ky Kaufmann (pole vault/2.44m), Rutherford (shot put/14.79m), Miller (weight throw/16.67m), Brooklyn Johnson (60m/:08.22), the men's 4x400 meter relay squad (Keiper, Kolosick, Holness, Lorig/3:34.57), and the women's 4x400 meter relay team (Leopold, Jennings, Garner, Johnson/4:30.00).
