Miller hits another qualifying mark, Mustangs are top four at Fighting Bee Invitational

DAVENPORT, Iowa — Mitch Miller once again hit a qualifying mark in the weight throw as the Mount Mercy men finished third and the women's squad fourth at the Fighting Bee Invitational hosted at the St. Ambrose Wellness and Rec Center.

Miller surpassed his season best on Saturday while finishing third in the event. His mark of 16.79 meters crossed the NAIA's B qualifying standard and puts him first in the Heart of America Athletic Conference and 21st in the nation.

Overall, the Mustangs had three event champions, set a school record, and counted 11 personal records at St. Ambrose. On the men's side, it was Brady Cortez winning the 1,000 meters in 2:38.68, while Jessa Day won the 3,000 meters (11:30.52) and Ariana Lopez the 5,000 meters (21:44.12).
