Adams, Thompson Hit B Qualifying Marks at Friday Knight Lights Meet
WAVERLY, Iowa – Mount Mercy's men's indoor track and field team saw two runners hit the 'B' standard mark to qualify for nationals at the Friday Knight Lights meet on Friday.
Keegan Thompson matched the 'B' standard in the 60m dash with his preliminary time of 6.83 seconds. Ceondae Adams also surpassed the 'B' standard mark, securing first place in the 60m hurdles with a time of 8.10 seconds.
In the sprint and distance events, Breon Wade finished fourth in the 60m dash with a time of 6.86 seconds, followed by Baylor Speidel in seventh at 7.07 seconds. Trevor Leitheiser placed fifth in the 600m race, clocking in at 1:25.84, while Quinn Swift also secured a fifth-place finish in the 3,000m race with a time of 9:02.08.
The men's 4x400m relay team A—Keegan Thompson, Ceondae Adams, Nate Keiper, and Jordan Schroeder—finished third overall with a time of 3:21.96. Team B—Baylor Speidel, Trevor Leitheiser, Chris Canas, and Noah Valenzuela—placed tenth with a time of 3:31.44.
In the field events, Oscar Nelson finished sixth in the high jump with a mark of 1.78m. In the shot put, Omar Salinas placed seventh overall with a throw of 14.22m, followed by Nate Jones (12.89m) and Alex Paulson (12.55m), who finished 13th and 18th, respectively.
The Mustangs will return to action on February 14 for the Heart of America Indoor Track and Field Championships.
