Mustangs Tackle Day One of Conference Championships
MARYVILLE, Mo. - Mount Mercy's men's indoor track and field team competed on day one of the Heart of America Athletic Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships at Hughes Fieldhouse.
In the men's 5,000-meter run, Lukas Lamparek placed seventh with a time of 15:27.92, while Quinn Swift finished ninth in 15:36.50.
The 4x800-meter relay team—Noah Valenzuela, Trevor Leitheiser, Jonathan Williams, and Ty Costigan—secured seventh place with a time of 8:09.32. In the 600-meter race, Jordan Schroeder finished fifth for the Mustangs, clocking in at 1:21.04.
In the 60-meter dash, Keegan Thompson placed third in 6.87 seconds, followed by Breon Wade in fourth, also at 6.87, and Ceondae Adams in sixth at 6.91. All three qualified for Saturday's finals. Adams also secured a spot in the 60-meter hurdles finals after posting a time of 8.14 seconds.
In the throwing events, Omar Salinas finished eighth overall in the weight throw with a toss of 15.12 meters.
The Mustangs look to build on their success as they compete in day two of the Heart of America Conference Championships on Saturday.
