Adams and Thompson Capture Event Titles as Mustangs Finish Fifth at Conference Championships

MARYVILLE, Mo. - Ceondae Adams and Keegan Thompson shined on day two of the Heart of America Athletic Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships, each securing individual event titles as the Mustangs finished fifth overall.

Thompson dominated the sprints, winning the 60m dash with a time of 6.79 and claiming the 200m title in 21.84. He went on to score the most points of any men's athlete at the conference meet, totaling 26 points. Adams secured the 60m hurdles title with a time of 8.14.

The Mustangs saw several other strong finishes. In the 60m dash, Breon Wade placed fourth at 6.84, while Adams followed in fifth at 6.92. With these performances, Wade and Adams joined Thompson in the top five of the school's record book for the event.

In the 200m, Adams finished fourth with a time of 22.09, while Baylor Speidel placed sixth at 22.18. Thompson also finished fourth in the 400m, clocking 48.89, followed by Jordan Schroeder in eighth (49.56) and Nate Keiper in tenth (49.99). Schroeder later placed fifth in the 600m with a time of 1:21.04.

Brady Cortez finished fourth in the 1-mile run with a time of 4:26.77, closely followed by Dylan Bledsoe in sixth at 4:28.17. The men's 4x400m relay team—Jordan Schroeder, Nate Keiper, Breon Wade, and Baylor Speidel—secured a third-place finish with a time of 3:19.51.

In the field events, Omar Salinas placed seventh in the shot put with a toss of 14.51m, while Oscar Nielsen finished ninth in the high jump with a clearance of 1.83m.

Benedictine claimed the team title with 137.5 points, followed by William Penn in second (127), Park in third (112), Central Methodist in fourth (104.5), and Mount Mercy rounding out the top five with 83 points.
