Mustangs Showcase Talent at SAU Tune Up Meet

DAVENPORT, Iowa — Mount Mercy University made a strong showing at the SAU Tune Up, with sophomore Baylor Speidel leading the charge in the men's 60 meters. Speidel secured a third-place finish in the finals, clocking a swift time of 6.98 seconds.

Speidel's impressive performance in the men's 60 meters was a highlight for Mount Mercy. He advanced to the finals with a preliminary time of 7.04 seconds, demonstrating consistent speed. Freshman Marquinn Davis and senior Owen McBride also represented the Mustangs in the preliminaries, placing 19th and 22nd with times of 7.41 and 7.58 seconds, respectively.

While Davis and McBride did not advance to the finals, their efforts were valuable contributions to the Mustangs' overall showing. Speidel's third-place finish underscored the team's competitive spirit, highlighting his potential as a pivotal performer. The performances of the Mustangs' athletes reflected a dynamic blend of experience and emerging talent.

Looking ahead, the Mustangs are set to compete again on Friday, February 20, in Maryville, Missouri.
