Mustangs Shine in Multiple Events at the Heart Conference Championships

MARYVILLE, Mo. — Mount Mercy's Luke Czarnecki soared to a first-place finish in the men's high jump, leading the team to several top ten finishes at the Heart of America Conference Indoor Championship.

Brady Marak clocked in at 7.02 for 17th place in the Men's 60 Meters Preliminaries. In the Men's 400 Meters, Noah Valenzuela crossed the line in 15th place with a time of 49.63, while Chris Canas finished 25th at 53.08.

Valenzuela impressed in the Men's 600 Meters, securing sixth place with a time of 1:21.44 and earning three points. Trevor Leitheiser and Seth Countryman followed in 12th and 13th places with times of 1:23.01 and 1:23.04, respectively.

Jack Stamp delivered a strong performance in the Men's Mile, finishing sixth with a time of 4:22.61 and adding three points to the team's tally. Brady Cortez secured eighth place at 4:26.03 for one point.

In the Men's 5000 Meters, Dylan Bledsoe claimed fourth with a 15:04.07 finish, earning five points. Noah Gregoire and Matthew Schaul took 12th and 17th with times of 15:41.22 and 16:10.79, respectively. Gregoire also placed seventh in the Men's 3000 Meters, clocking in at 8:46.32 for two points, while Schaul and Ryan Mitchell finished 19th and 20th with times of 9:18.00 and 9:22.83, respectively.

Czarnecki matched his preliminary performance to finish sixth in the Men's 60 Hurdles Finals, clocking 8.36 and earning three additional points.

Czarnecki's dominance continued with a 1.99m leap to win the Men's High Jump, collecting 10 points. Oscar Nielsen contributed a fifth-place finish with a 1.89m jump for four points.

In the Men's Pole Vault, Czarnecki reached 4.45m for second place and seven points, while Tyler Morgan placed 12th with a 3.85m vault. Daylin Schaefer took fourth in the Men's Long Jump with a 7.04m mark, adding five points to the team score.

Caleb Rutherford secured second place in the Men's Shot Put with a 15.82m throw, earning eight points. Nate Jones and Omar Salinas followed in 10th and 14th with throws of 14.25m and 13.17m, respectively.

In the Men's Weight Throw, Michael Glass finished seventh with a 15.74m mark, earning two points, while Rutherford took eighth with a 15.26m throw for one point. Charles Sundquist, Isaac Hernandez, and Salinas placed 12th, 17th, and 18th with marks of 14.48m, 13.23m, and 12.95m, respectively.

Mount Mercy finished sixth overall with 60 points. Park claimed the team title with 174 points, followed by MidAmerica Nazarene (112), Benedictine (102.5), Central Methodist (99.5), and William Penn (91) for the top five finishers. 

The Mustangs look ahead to the NAIA National Championships as they send athletes to Gainesville, Fla., on March 4th.
