Mustangs Celebrate Senior Day with Strong Performances at DeBacker Invite

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - Mount Mercy's men's track and field team shined on senior day, delivering several standout performances at the home DeBacker Invitational.

In the track events, Ceondae Adams broke the meet record in the 110-meter hurdles, clocking in at 14.18 seconds to take first place. Adams also surpassed the NAIA "A" standard by 0.02 seconds, securing his spot at the national championships. Perez Hemmings followed with a fourth-place finish in 15.40, and Brayden Kolosick placed ninth in 16.77.

Jonathon Williams paced the Mustangs in the 800 meters, finishing third with a time of 1:58.89. He was closely followed by Brady Cortez in fourth (1:58.91), Ty Costigan in sixth (1:59.95), and Dylan Bledsoe in eighth (2:01.92).

In field events, Nate Jones led the way in the hammer throw, finishing sixth with a mark of 43.57 meters. Omar Salinas took eighth (42.82m), while Alexander Paulson placed tenth (39.94m). In the shot put, Salinas finished fifth with a toss of 13.40 meters, followed by Jones in sixth (13.25m) and Paulson in eighth (12.80m).

In the high jump, Oscar Nielsen cleared 1.85 meters to finish fourth. Nate Keiper placed third in the javelin with a throw of 49.98 meters, with Owen McBride right behind in fourth (49.60m), and Noah Valenzuela rounding out the top ten at 37.69m.

In the long jump, Ky Kaufmann secured third place with a leap of 6.09 meters. Sergio Bernabeu came in ninth in the triple jump at 11.27 meters, and Nielsen placed tenth (1.04m).

Mount Mercy will return to competition on Wednesday, April 23, at the Rittger's Invitational, hosted by Coe College in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
