Mustangs Qualify for Finals at Drake Relays, Compete at Kip Janvrin Invite
DES MOINES, Iowa — Mount Mercy's men's track and field team continued their strong performances Friday during day three of the Drake Relays and day two of the Kip Janvrin Invite.
On the track, the Mustangs' 4x100-meter relay team — Keegan Thompson, Ceondae Adams, Baylor Speidel and Breon Wade — advanced to the finals after finishing sixth in the preliminaries with a time of 41.40 seconds. In the 110-meter hurdles, Adams finished 16th overall in the prelims, clocking 14.31 seconds.
The 4x400-meter relay team of Thompson, Adams, Nate Keiper and Noah Valenzuela finished eighth in the prelims with a time of 3:13.69, also qualifying for the finals.
The Mustangs also had athletes competing at the Kip Janvrin Open in Indianola, Iowa, hosted by Simpson College.
In the field events, Nate Jones led the Mustang throwers with a 10th-place finish in the hammer throw, reaching 43.22 meters. Alexander Paulson placed 28th with a toss of 35.48 meters. Paulson also finished 19th in the shot put with a mark of 12.82 meters, while Jones placed 27th in the discus at 37.53 meters.
In the high jump, Oscar Nielsen finished 12th, clearing 1.76 meters.
On the track, Brayden Kolosick finished 36th overall in the 110-meter hurdles at 16.59 seconds, and placed 56th in the 200-meter dash with a time of 24.36 seconds.
