Mustangs Start Off Strong at Heart Outdoor Championships

FAYETTE, Mo. - Mount Mercy's men's track and field team opened the weekend with strong performances on day one of the Heart of America Athletic Conference Outdoor Championships.

In the field events, Nate Keiper placed seventh in the javelin with a throw of 47.90 meters, while Owen McBride followed in ninth at 46.30 meters.

On the track, Ceondae Adams advanced to the finals in both the 110-meter hurdles and the 100-meter dash. He finished second in the preliminaries for both events, clocking 14.52 seconds in the hurdles and 10.58 seconds in the 100.

Baylor Speidel also qualified for the 100-meter dash final, placing sixth in the prelims with a time of 10.76.

In the 4x800-meter relay, the Mustangs took seventh with a time of 7:52.56.

Adams continued his strong showing in the 200-meter dash, placing third in the semifinals with a time of 21.44 seconds to earn another finals berth. Speidel finished eighth in 21.62, while Keegan Thompson followed closely in ninth at 21.67.

In the 10,000-meter run, Quinn Swift led the Mustangs with a fourth-place finish in 32:38.80. Lukas Lamparek followed in fifth (32:39.33), and Trey Schulte rounded out the group in ninth at 33:17.38.

Mount Mercy looks to build on its momentum as the Heart Championships continues on Saturday.
