Win streak hits five as Mustangs beat Pride

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa -- Mount Mercy's win streak is at five after the 15th-ranked Mustangs defeated Clarke, 3-1, in Tuesday's Heart of America Athletic Conference men's volleyball match at Hennessey Recreation Center.

The only blip on the screen was set number two when the Mustangs hit just .040 with eight kills and seven attack errors. Outside of that, Mount Mercy was dominant, especially while clinching the match with a .423 attack percentage in set number four.

Akeel Oxley finished with 18 kills and seven digs while hitting .371. Bo Brainerd had another terrific night, totaling nine kills and five blocks. Colin Castelnau added six kills, Brian Lynch four. Rafael Vieyra tallied 39 assists and Johann Schopsdau had a team-best 10 digs.

The next three matches are on the road for Mount Mercy, beginning with a trip to St. Louis this weekend for matches against eighth-ranked Missouri Baptist and UHSP. The Mustangs take on the Spartans on Friday at 7:00 pm, then face the Eutecnics on Saturday at noon.
