Mustangs dominate eighth-ranked Pirates

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa -- Mount Mercy hit .326 for the match in an impressive 25-15, 25-22, 25-19 sweep of eighth-ranked Park in Friday night's Heart of America Athletic Conference men's volleyball match at Hennessey Recreation Center.

Akeel Oxley had just one attack error in 20 attempts, finishing with a team-high 13 kills to go along with five digs for the Mustangs (18-5, 6-5 Heart). Colin Castelnau added nine kills and six digs, Alessandro Spendolini eight kills and five digs. Bo Brainerd tallied five kills and four blocks, Johann Schopsdau 10 digs, and Rafael Vieyra 29 assists.

Mount Mercy hosts a triangular on Saturday. The Mustangs face Graceland at noon, the Yellowjackets take on Morningside at 2:00 pm, then Mount Mercy squares off with Morningside at 4:00 pm at Hennessey Rec Center.
