Mustangs Sting Yellowjackets in Commanding Sweep

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - In a commanding 3-0 sweep, Mount Mercy's men's volleyball defeated the Graceland Yellowjackets in a conference matchup Friday night at Hennessey Recreation Center.

In the opening set, Mount Mercy's Gustavo Kehl Bauer sparked a 10-0 run, giving the Mustangs an early lead. With momentum on their side, the Mustangs outhit the Yellowjackets, recording 12 kills and hitting .450 while limiting Graceland to just four kills and a -.231 hitting percentage.

The Mustangs carried that energy into the second set, overpowering the Yellowjackets with 12 kills while holding them to six kills and a .000 hitting percentage. Set three went to Mount Mercy, 25-17, sealing the 3-0 conference victory.

Douglas Fofano led the Mustangs' offense with eight kills, a .538 hitting percentage, and seven digs. Kevin Fiedler matched Fofano with eight kills while hitting .278, and Brian Lynch contributed seven kills. Maks Cabajewski orchestrated the attack with 22 assists.

For the Yellowjackets, Elijah Kline led the way with 10 kills and a .192 hitting percentage, while Andrew Cziep added five kills. Luis Garcia dished out 18 assists.

Mount Mercy (7-1, 2-0 Heart) returns to action on February 18, hosting the Grand View Vikings at Hennessey Recreation Center starting at 7:00 p.m.
