OSKALOOSA, Iowa - The Mustangs opened conference play with a 66-47 victory over the William Penn Statesmen.
After leading by just one point at the end of the first quarter, the Mustangs quickly took control of the game. As a team, they shot 26-55 from the field while limiting the Statesmen to 19-56 shooting.
Four Mustangs players finished in double figures. Claudia VanZant led the way with 12 points on 6-9 shooting and added eight rebounds. Annika Headington contributed 11 points on 4-6 shooting, along with three rebounds and four assists. Isabel Wallschlaeger and Sam Kiel both scored 10 points.
For the Statesmen, Azori Edwards led the team with 12 points on 5-7 shooting and grabbed four rebounds.
The Mustangs will be back on the court at home on Saturday, November 16th, as they play host to the Park Pirates, with tip-off set for 12:00 pm.
