CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - The Mount Mercy women's basketball team falls to the MidAmerica Nazarene Pioneers, 61-54.
Despite the Mustangs shooting 46.8 percent from the field compared to the Pioneers' 32.8 percent, the key to the game was rebounding. Ultimately, the Mustangs were outrebounded by the Pioneers 44-24.
Claudia VanZant led the Mustang offense with 16 points on 6-10 shooting and grabbing five rebounds. Joining VanZant in the double digits was Annika Headington with 13 points on 6-7 shooting and Sam Kiel with 12 points, shooting 4-8.
Kameron Green paced the Pioneers' victory with 16 points on 8-12 shooting. Following close behind Green was teammate Keona Schenck, who scored 15 points on 6-15 shooting.
The Mustangs will be back in action on Tuesday, November 26th, as they will play host to the Grand View Vikings with tip-off set for 5:30 PM.
