Mustangs get power points, Aminuddin earns individual title

WAUWATOSA, Wis. -- The Mount Mercy women's bowling team took the top spot during qualifying to earn first place power points while Ayra Nur Jehan Aminuddin won the individual title and made the all-tournament team at the season-opening Midwest Collegiate Championships.

The Mustangs edged Webber International by 60 poins to earn the No. 1 seed in the match play bracket. After defeating eighth-seeded William Penn in the quarterfinals, Mount Mercy fell to fifth-seeded SCAD-Savannah in the semifinals, 2-1 (151-167, 201-194, 213-176). SCAD-Savannah beat second-seeded Webber International, 2-1, in the finals.

Aminuddin totaled 1,258 pins over six games to finish at the top of the women's leaderboard and earn all-tournament laurels. Gabriella Evans of William Penn was runner-up with a total pinfall of 1,242. Jenna Williams and Jaelle Hamman were also top-15 finishers. Williams placed 12th (1,164 pins) and Hamman 14th (1,149). Ashley Sundstrom (787/4 games), Brynna Madison (570/3 games), Elena Carr (531/3 games), and Megan Kolberg (404/2 games) rounded out the Mustang roster.

Mount Mercy will be back on the lanes this weekend at the Cedar Valley Invitational I and II in Waterloo.
