Aminuddin, Williams land all-tournament honors at Warhawk Open
ADDISON, Ill. -- Ayra Nur Jehan Aminuddin and Jenna Williams landed all-tournament honors while the top-ranked Mount Mercy women's bowling team finished first in qualifying at the Motiv Warhawk Open on Dec. 4-5. The Mustangs fell in the quarterfinal round of match play on Sunday.
A total pinfall of 8,482 pushed the Mustangs into first place during qualifying. The remainder of the top eight qualifiers included St. Francis (Ill.) (8,226), Wisconsin-Whitewater (8,193), Marian (8,172), Saint Xavier (8,126), Midland (8,062), Davenport (8,057), and William Penn (7,974).
The eighth-seeded Statesmen defeated the top-seeded Mustangs, 221-188 and 197-179, in the championship bracket quarterfinals. Fifth-seeded Saint Xavier marched through match play, defeating sixth-seeded Midland for the title, 146-185, 188-187, 231-219.
Aminuddin and Williams were both in the top five individually after six games. Aminuddin finished third with 1,164 total pins and a high score of 226 while Williams placed fifth with 1,158 pins and a 215 best performance. Hanna Triske of Midland was the individual champion with a total pinfall of 1,225.
Mount Mercy, the current No. 1 in the USBC power ranking, is off for a month, returning to Addison for the Illinois BPA Kegel Midwest Collegiate Classic on Saturday and Sunday, Jan. 15-16.
