Mustangs nab Tier 1 win, Williams wins individual title
ADDISON, Ill. -- In their return to the lanes this weekend, the top-ranked Mount Mercy women's bowling team picked up a huge Tier 1 tournament victory, beating out 56 other teams for the title at the Kegel/ISBPA Midwest Collegiate Classic at Stardust Bowl.
Not only did the Mustangs grab the team championship, Jenna Williams also claimed the individual crown while earning all-tournament team honors. She finished with a total pinfall of 1,194 to beat Megan Hess of St. Ambrose (1,155 pins). Megan Kollberg (1,049) and Ayra Nur Jehan Aminnudin (1,032) were also top-20 finishers.
Mount Mercy produced a pinfall of 5,215 over five regular games then 4,246 during 20 Baker games for a total of 9,461 pins. Fourth-ranked Wichita State was runner-up at 9,399 pins, followed by Tennessee Southern (8,968), Lawrence Tech (8,728), and Calumet St. Joseph (8,721).
The Mustangs will be back in Addison next weekend for the Storm Baker Challenge on Saturday and Sunday. Then after a week off, they stay in Cedar Rapids for the Kohawk Invitational hosted by Coe.
