Mustangs Take Home Top Spot on Day One of Midwest Collegiate Championships

WAUWATOSA, Wisc. - The MMU women's bowling team got off to a hot start to begin their season, dominating day one of the Midwest Collegiate Championships, taking home the top spot by nearly 400 pins.

Five Mustangs placed in the top-15, with Brooke Salzman taking home third overall and first on the squad. Salzman had a total pin count of 1084, bowling over a 200 in four of her five games, with her first game being her best on the day at a 234. Not far behind her was McKenzie Mattice, ending her day with a total pin count of 1072, good for fifth overall. Mattice had a high of 238 in her final game of the day.

Elena Carr was just behind Mattice, with a pin total of 1061, tied with fellow Mustang teammate Jaelle Hamman. Carr had a day high 238, while Hamman had a high of 232. The fifth and final Mustang in the top-15 was Nada Abdul Jalil, ending her day with a 1023 pin count. In her second game, Jalil recorded her day best of 243, paired with two other scores over 200. 

The Mustangs will look to continue their hot start tomorrow, continuing the Midwest Collegiate Championships.
