Mustangs Cruise to First Tournament Win of the Season
CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - In the only home tournament of the fall season, the Mustang women's bowlers cruised to a team tournament title, winning the Five Seasons Classic, going a perfect 10-0 and sweeping through the Baker series, with a total pin count of 8776.
The highest pin count belonged to Jaelle Hamman, bowling a tournament average of 222.4. Hamman had a total pin count of 1112, and had all of her scores higher than a 200, with a tournament best of 227 in the opening game. Four out of five of Hamman's games bowled had scores higher than a 220. Hamman had the highest pin count on the team by 70 pins. In second behind her was Carly Zuklin, who bowled a tournament average of 190.2, with a total pin count of 951. Zuklin had a best score of 220 in her third game.
In third on the team was Elena Carr, who bowled a tournament average of 189.8, with a total pin count of 949. Carr bowled a tournament best 208 in her second game. In fourth was Brooke Salzman, who bowled a tournament average of 189.4, good for a total pin count of 947. Salzman had a pair of games over 200, with her highest coming in the fifth game at 223.
As a team, the Mustangs bested the second place squad in Missouri Baptist by over 700 pins, while both of Mount Mercy's JV teams would have a higher pin count than 11 other varsity programs, as both JV teams would have finished third and fourth in the varsity bracket.
