Mustangs Place Second at the Leatherneck Classic
ROCKFORD, Ill. - The Mount Mercy women's bowling team placed second at the Leatherneck Classic, falling in the finals to St. Xavier.
The Mustangs took down Newman in the first bracket play match after a decisive third game, where MMU would go on to win by 41 pins. In the semifinals against fellow Heart of America foe William Penn, the Mustangs took down the Statesmen in a sweep of the best of three, 205-202 and 248-201.
Heading into the finals, St. Xavier would take down Concordia in 2 games and Lindenwood in three to set up the finals match. St. Xavier was able to win the first game against the Mustangs 172-162, before squeaking out a second game win by just four pins, ultimately taking the Leatherneck Classic crown.
The Mustangs will return to the lanes on December 7 at the Warhawk Open.
