Mustangs Top Field on Day One of Glenn Carlson Invitational
LAS VEGAS, Nev. — Mount Mercy University women's bowling team delivered a commanding performance on the opening day of the Glenn Carlson Invitational, securing first place with a total score of 5,113 pins at the Tier 1 collegiate tournament hosted in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Mount Mercy set a competitive pace, fueled by consistent scoring across five games. Standout performances included McKenzie Mattice, who tallied 1,123 pins with an average of 224.6, placing her second among individual bowlers. Teammate Carly Zuklin contributed significantly with a total of 1,043 pins, averaging 208.6. Elena Carr and Brooke Salzman also added critical points, showcasing the depth of the team's roster.
The Mustangs hold a slim 33-pin lead over second-place Milligan University, which closed the day with 5,080 pins. Coe College is in third with 5,032 pins. Other top contenders include Concordia University and Saint Xavier University, rounding out the top five with 4,944 and 4,895 pins, respectively.
Individually, Mount Mercy bowlers consistently ranked among the leaders, reflecting a strong team effort. The results highlight the team's preparation and execution in a highly competitive field.
The Glenn Carlson Invitational continues on Thursday as the Mustangs will seek another tournament win on the season.
