Mustangs Run at Hoosier Classic Ends in Semifinals
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - The Mount Mercy women's bowling team's run at the Hoosier Classic would end in the semifinals in bracket play after finishing fourth in qualifying.
The Mustangs were led by Jaelle Hamman, who placed 35th overall while bowling a pinfall of 1014, good for a five game average of 202.8. Hamman would bowl a tournament high 234 in her fifth and final game, bowling three total games above a 200. Brooke Salzam would be the next Mustang on the leaderboard, finishing just inside the top-70, bowling a five game total of 970 pins, good for an average of 194. Salzman would bowl a tournament high 236 in her third game.
Elena Carr would not finish too far behind Salzman, with a total pinfall of 949, good for a four game average of 237. Carr would bowl three of her four games above a 230, including a second best team high of 257 in game four. The Mustangs team best score came off the hands of McKenzie Mattice, who bowled a team best 280 in game one.
In the baker games, the Mustangs would rattle off four straight games above a 225 in games two through five before firing off another four game stretch above 200. After 15 baker games, the Mustangs bowled a pinfall of 3227, good for an average of 215.1. The Mustangs would fall in the semifinals of the Hoosier Classic to SCAD Savannah.
The Mustangs have their eyes set on a conference championship crown, with the Heart of America Championships taking place this upcoming weekend.
