Mustangs Take Home Top Spot at USBC ITC Sectionals

ADDISON, Ill. - The Mount Mercy women's bowling team took home the top spot, winning the USBC ITC Sectional tournament held in Addison, Illinois this past weekend.

The Mustangs would battle fiercely along NCAA Division I school Louisiana Tech, as the two schools would switch between first and second place over the later parts of the tournament. The Mustangs would jump out to a wide lead late over the Bulldogs of LTU after 58 games bowled. It was the Bulldogs who would provide a late surge, besting the Mustangs over the final six games bowled, but the lead would prove to be insurmountable, as the Mustangs would hold on, taking home the top spot by over 200 pins.

On the individual side, Nada Abdul Jalil would qualify for the ISC Championships, finishing seventh in the sectionals qualifiers, advancing to Las Vegas in April. Abdul Jalil would bowl four of six games above a 200, including a tournament high of 248 en route to a total six game pinfall of 1310.

The Mustangs will next compete as a team at the NAIA Championships, with play set to begin on March 20 in Sterling Heights, Mich.
